Netherby Rd set for upgrade

WIDE Bay MP Llew O'Brien has confirmed $740,000 will be allocated to upgrade Netherby Rd, south of Gundiah.

Mr O'Brien said a new eight-metre-wide floodway would improve access for emergency services.

"The funding will allow the Fraser Coast Regional Council to construct a more resilient floodway to ensure the Gundiah community is able to stay connected to essential services following flood events," Mr O'Brien said.

"The road is also important for local farmers who use it to transport stock and produce and receive supplies."

Netherby Road, also known as Old Gympie Road, connects the communities of Gundiah and Tiaro, south-west of Maryborough in the Fraser Coast region.

Mr O'Brien said the funding is in addition to $790,000 for the floodway on Emerys Bridge Road, and $1.44 million for the Gutchy Creek Bridge at Gundiah.
