New coaching team takes over at Wellington

WELLINGTON Phoenix has named Bosnian-Swiss Darije Kalezic as its new coach.

The 47-year-old, who has had managerial stints in the Netherlands, Belgium, England with Stockport County and Saudi Pro League club Al-Taawoun, will be assisted by the experienced Rado Vidosic.

The pair takes the reigns at the A-League club from Des Buckingham and Chris Greenacre, whose contracts were not renewed at the end lst season when the Phoenix finished seventh.

It's a high-calibre coaching duo that Phoenix general manager Dome feels compliments the club's off field advances.

"Last season we spent more on the club - both on and off the field - than we have ever done previously," he said.

"We invested significantly into players, a new training facility at Martin Luckie Park with the support of the Wellington City Council, and resources off the field.

"This season will will continue to invest strategically - and we believe Darije and Rado have the skills and passion to achieve very highly at the Phoenix."

In Vidosic, Wellington Phoenix believes it has brought in one of the most knowledgeable and experienced assistant coaches in the competition's history.

Vidosic won a premiership alongside Ange Postecogluat Brisbane Roar as well as back-toback championships.

He alo helped Melbourne Victory to a championship and brings a wealth knowledge of the A-League as well as a proven track record in successful campaigns.
