New costs for clubs prohibitive

FRASER Coast sporting organisations will be hit hard by dramatic rises in their electricity bills as a result of the Federal Government’s proposed Emission Trading Scheme Paul Neville, the Federal member for Hinkler, says.

“It’s a fact that many of these clubs have limited capacity to raise their own funds, so to suffer a huge blowout in their power bills will be, for some, unsustainable,” Mr Neville said.

“This particularly applies to tennis, bowling and soccer clubs, and any other club which may need expensive outdoor lighting.”
