New festival to help farmers
AUSSIE singing icons Kasey Chambers and Shannon Noll are in the line-up of great artists who will perform at the 'Bush to Bay' at the Bay Central Tavern at the weekend.
Tavern venue manager Paul Limbrick said the great space around the tavern lent itself to this great opportunity.
"We wanted to generate another great event for the bay," he said.
He said choosing the artists stemmed from the charity, Aussie Helpers, who will benefit from the event.
"They are an organisation that help a lot of our farmers, Queensland-wide," Paul said.
"It is always good to come up with an event to raise money for local charities and bring business to the region."
Paul said Aussie Helpers volunteers would be at the event with their Shake-A-Tins asking for donations.
"We will sell stubbie coolers and they will get a percentage of those sales.
"All the local food vendors who are attending will make contributions and their site fees will go towards the organisation.
"We have purchased hay, which will be used at the event and then afterwards will be donated."
The one day bush affair will feature multi ARIA Award winning sweetheart Kasey Chambers, voice of the nation Shannon Noll alongside a slew of incredible Australian talent including Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Mickey Pye, Missy Lancaster, The Hillbilly Goats, The Swamp Stompers, Brad Schultz and CRVKS.
Bush to Bay not only offers bittersweet country music at its best but will be showcasing the region's culinary talents with plenty on offer by way of local and craft beers and famous seafood.
Paul said they had partnered with Fraser Coast Tourism and Events.
FCTE events manager Robyn Peach said it was fantastic to see artists of the calibre of Kasey Chambers coming to Hervey Bay to perform an open-air concert with a host of other artists.
"This new event will help us with our aim of growing an events portfolio that drives tourist visitation, excites local participation and elevates the region as one of Queensland's premier event locations."
Local band Forbidden Road will perform at the after party from about 10pm.
Tickets are on sale through Oztix.
Bush to Bay Music Festival will be held on Saturday, June 30 at the Bay Central Tavern, 155 Boatharbour Dr, Pialba, phone 41244111.
