New horizon to paint for well-travelled Fraser Coast artist

WITH a professional artistic career spanning the past three decades and a list of exhibits across the world, painter Ashleigh Manley will open his new gallery on the Hervey Bay esplanade this weekend.

The opening will end more than four years of travel for Mr Manley and wife Kate, after exhibiting his work in Dubai, Cyprus, Malta and Japan.

They have now let go of the travel bug to settle permanently in Hervey Bay.

Mr Manley said the view of the horizon from the gallery's windows helped convince him the Fraser Coast was the place to call home.

"Between Hervey Bay and Maryborough, we just think it's amazing," he said.

The gallery, next to Peppers Pier Resort, will show watercolours and acrylics influenced by Mr Manley's travels through Central Australia and the world. It will also show original screen prints and homewares.
