New hue for miners

MINERS in central Queensland will have a bit more pink in their lives after the delivery of a massive Maryborough-made dragline bucket painted in the bright hue.

Motorists on the Bruce Highway were treated to a glimpse of the eight-metre wide 40-tonne bucket on its recent journey to Mackay.

Maryborough’s CQMS alloy steel foundry built the monster bucket which was bound for BHP Billiton’s Norwich Park mine.

The pink bucket was the 150th dragline bucket the foundry has supplied to the mine.

But it won’t just be digging the rubble at the mine site.

It was also used in a Dig Deep for Charity campaign to dig for cash for the McGrath Foundation.

A charity cricket match and auction held at Mackay at the weekend raised money to provide breast-care nurses to Qld’s regional and rural communities.

The foundation helped provide a breast care nurse for the Fraser Coast last year.
