Local seafood on the menu at cafe

LOCAL seafood and a strong wine selection are the focus of The Whale Tale's new dinner menu.

After taking over the cafe early last year, owners Morgan Johnston and Shaun Beckett have now been able to realise their plan to open a dinner restaurant at the WetSide Water Park.

Mrs Johnston said the restaurant had been trading for dinner for the past fortnight, a conscious decision to be up and running ahead of the summer tourism season.

"I'm hoping it will be an absolutely bumper season," Mrs Johnston said.

The change has meant the creation of several new jobs for the Hervey Bay hospitality industry and will mean even more new staff soon to run WetSide's snack shack, the restaurant and coffee cart.

Mrs Johnston said feedback from the public had so far been strong, only two weeks after their opening night.

"Everyone has said it has been amazing," she said.

Mr Beckett said the breakfast, lunch and dinner crowd at The Whale Tale had all been growing.

The Whale Tale Cafe is open Thursday to Sunday from 6pm for dinner.

It also trades for breakfast and lunch from 7am Thursday to Sunday.
