No electoral apathy at Hinkler forum in Hervey Bay
EDITORIAL: History, they say, is made by those who show up. So history may be in the hands of precious few, based on the small though enthusiastic attendance at our election forums for the Hinkler and Wide Bay electorates.
There was certainly no voter apathy among those at the forums.
They were all keen to meet and quiz the candidates.
Each audience saw a wide range of voting choice, with varying levels of political experience.
Some candidates did not attend, leaving doubt about their commitment to the Fraser Coast and no knowledge of their stance on vital local issues raised in questions from our readers and from the floor.
We report on some of those responses from the Hinkler forum on Page 8-9 and will follow with a similar report for Wide Bay tomorrow.
TELLING a neglected child a story or even a simple nursery rhyme can be just as important as dealing with their physical neglect.
The need is great. A Fostering Families trial program run by ACT for Kids, officially launched yesterday, is already at capacity.
