No time for horsing around

IT WAS all smiles on Rainbow Beach Thursday morning, with "Sunrise” weather presenter Sam McMillan making an early morning appearance on horseback.

Having settled into the saddle, he was just three minutes away from his live, nationally broadcast cross when the horse dropped to the ground and nearly rolled over him.

"That's actually the second time I've had a horse-related incident on the show,” McMillan said.

He's glad the television cameras weren't rolling, but a Gympie Times photographer did manage to capture it on tape.

"Yeah, I'm not having the smoothest run with the horses but these things can happen.”

The trip to Rainbow Beach is just one stop on a larger trip "Sunrise” is doing across the Sunshine Coast and coincides with a major tourism push for the region.

"Rainbow Beach is obviously somewhere I've heard a lot about,” he said.

"And the people here have just been so welcoming.

"We wish we'd have longer to stay.”
