Trotting fans in wating game

HARNESS RACING: The wait is still far from over for Fraser Coast trotting fans.

Wide Bay Harness Racing Club officials had a meeting with council officials in Hervey Bay yesterday afternoon but still no date has been pencilled in to replace the meeting that was washed out at Maryborough Showgrounds earlier this month.

Rain had left the track in no fit state to hold the first trotting meeting at the venue since 1995.

Don Cross, the Wide Bay Harness Racing Club vice-president, said it was now a waiting game for him and his committee.

“Damian Raedler, the racing operations manager for Harness Racing Queensland, came with us to the meeting and he put forward a few dates to council,” Cross said.

“Now it’s up to the council to see if those dates can be worked into the schedule at Maryborough Showgrounds.

“There is nothing more we can do at this stage except wait unfortunately.”
