Old timers to reunite for Howard State School reunion

FORMER Howard State School principal Phil Cullen and teacher John Rea will join their old students at a long-awaited reunion next month.

The reunion will gather former students and teachers from 1944-54 and their partners.

Organiser Liz Godfrey said students and teachers who were at the school after those years were welcome to attend.

She said more than 100 people had already registered for the event.

Mrs Godfrey said the families of former teachers Averill Ross, Ken Rosen and Audrey Case, who have since passed away, would also be at the reunion.

The reunion will be held at the Hervey Bay Boat Club on September 14.

Tickets are $35.

Organisers have been planning the reunion for months and are running a Facebook page for guests to join.

Howard State School will host an open day the morning of the reunion.

Mrs Godfrey said attendees would be given name tags and each class would be colour-coded.

"During the afternoon we will encourage people to find their class and enjoy their own reunion," she said.

John Vea Vea will entertain at the Boat Club.

Email hssreunion@hotmail.com or phone Ms Godfrey on 4128 0259 for more information or to RSVP to the event by August 30.
