Organisers hope to build on sand success

On a beautiful day in the Bay on Saturday, about 150 people constructed sand castles in the inaugural event.

Event organiser Charmaine Bailey said about $660 was raised."Families came down and they just had a ball - everybody had a really fantastic time," she said.

Ms Bailey said the castle building would become an annual event along with other initiatives.

"We've got a few other little fundraisers planned for our Relay for Life fundraiser this year," she said.

"One of our team members is quite a hairy, middle-aged man and he's going to have his back waxed."
