A chance to say thanks a million to Fraser Coast volunteers

RESIDENTS have a chance to recognise volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to society on the Fraser Coast.

Federal MP for Hinkler Paul Neville said nominations are now open for the special awards that will coincide with National Volunteer Week.

"Ten award winners in Hinkler will be selected to receive a special certificate of appreciation for their volunteering efforts," Mr Neville said.

"The awards provide people with an opportunity to say thank you to a volunteer who has helped them personally or helped in the community."

Mr Neville said Hinkler relies heavily on the contribution of volunteers.

The theme for National Volunteer Week is Thanks a Million.

Australians are encouraged to use social media to post messages of thanks to Australia's 6.1 million volunteers and to visit the National Volunteer Week web page volunteeringaustralia.org.
