Owen has master plan for athletes

IT MAY only be February but Owen Maughan has his mind firmly set on October.

He’s determined that the 20th annual Maryborough Masters Games is going to be a huge success.

Maughan, the Games secretary, said planning for this year’s event was already well under way.

Almost 1000 athletes aged from 20 to over 80 took part in the Games last year but Maughan is hoping that figure will be beaten this time around.

“We had 19 sports on offer last year,” he said.

“This year, 21 sports have already promised they will be a part of it while another five have indicated they might come on board, which is fantastic.”

Maughan said anyone interested in finding out more could go to a meeting at the Carriers Arms Hotel in Maryborough at 5.30pm today.
