Painter throws support behind Fraser Coast Heritage Awards

A SIGNATURE watercolour by Maryborough artist Lex Frank will be raffled off at tomorrow night's Fraser Coast Heritage Awards.

A strong supporter of the annual awards, Mr Frank donates a painting each year.

"Our heritage infrastructure and homes are something we need to look after," he said.

More than a dozen awards will be presented at the Brolga Theatre on Friday night, including awards for tradesmen and apprentices who have worked on significant heritage restorations or renovations.

Organisers have been overwhelmed with entries this year after the 2012 event had to be cancelled.

"It's rewarding to see the effort people have gone to with their nominations," Marian Graham said.

An independent judging panel including a property valuer, a real estate agent and an artist have decided on the winners of each category.
