M'boro motorists warned to expect delays due to parade

MOTORISTS can expect delays when roads in Maryborough are closed on Saturday from 9am to 11am for the Ulysses Grand Parade.

As part of the 30th annual AGM, the club's members will take to the streets of Maryborough to show off their motorcycles to the public.

  • Riders will depart Maryborough showgrounds via Showgrounds Rd
  • The parade will turn left into Woodville St, right into Copenhagen St, left into Nagel St and then left on to Gayndah Rd
  • They will then travel along Gayndah Rd over the Bruce Hwy and along Alice St
  • They then turn left into Russell St, right into Kent St, left into Bazaar St, left into Sussex St, right into Lennox St and right into Walker St

Pallas St will remain open but will be manned by police.

All other roads on the route will be closed.

Ulysses marketing manager Warren Jamieson wanted to reinforce the message to the community.

"We've done letterbox drops, put it on TV and it's been in the newspaper so we don't want people to be surprised when they are turned back," he said.

"However we do want people to come out and show their support."

Mr Jamieson said it could take up to an hour-and-a-half from any one spot to see more than 2000 bikes in the 8km parade.

The grand parade will wind up at the Brolga theatre for the AGM and festivities will continue at Queens Park.
