Parking machine gives woman $26.80 in 10c and 20c coins

A WOMAN who received a bucket load of coins in change from a Toowoomba parking machine has vented her frustration on social media.

Sandy Jane visited the Toowoomba Medical & Dental Centre in James St on February 3 with her son.

She spent about six hours at the centre but received a shock when she went to pay her $5 fee for parking.

Only having a $50 note, the parking machine at first displayed a message stating it could not accept the note.

It then proceeded to give her $26.80 in 10c and 20c pieces like a slot machine, leaving $18.20 owing.

She ended up taking the change home in a "vomit bag" supplied by the medical centre.

Staff at the medical centre called the machine operators and left a message, but as of yesterday she was yet to hear from them.

Ms Jane said she wanted to warn others to take correct change for the machines.

She said she didn't blame the centre for the mishap.

The medical centre was criticised by residents in 2015 when it introduced paid parking.

Ms Jane said she was unable to get half her groceries due to the incident.

Although residents are allowed three hours of free parking, the move was slammed by residents who said they often waited more than three hours to be seen by a doctor.
