Pirates hit Hervey Bay

PIRATES struck in Hervey Bay and have stolen a curious combination of items.

A Hervey Bay police spokesman confirmed a report was made to the station last night that a vessel moored in the Urangan Marina had been boarded and robbed.

The 36-foot power-boat cabin cruiser was boarded sometime between Wednesday and Thursday by the unknown offenders smashing their way through a glass sliding door.

Most unusual were the items stolen.

The spokesman said a number of maps, a compass and a depth finder were reported stolen from the vessel.

Whether or not these items will be used by the pirates to find sunken treasure is open to conjecture.
