Police dog squad finds man hiding in Kawungan garage

A HERVEY Bay man allegedly hiding in the garage of a Grevillea St home in Kawungan has been arrested after being found by the police dog squad on Monday afternoon.

Sergeant Paul Jervis of the Hervey Bay police said the man was the subject of dog squad search following a disturbance and numerous police call outs since 8.15am on Monday.

"A call was made to emergency services to say someone may have hurt themselves," he said.

Sgt Jervis said police had been called to the address a number of times regarding "a blue, an argument" before they brought in the dog squad about 11.15am.

"We had received calls about a disturbance at the location," Sgt Jervis said.

"Eventually he was located hiding in a shed.

"We have brought him back for questioning."

Sgt Jervis said the man did not require medical attention.

The man was arrested at a home within metres of Kawungan State School.

After the man had been placed in the back of a police vehicle, he was heard shouting out to a woman numerous times.

Then a woman ran up Grevillea St to a television cameraman at the scene, on the corner of Honeysuckle Ave, and tried to pull equipment away from him.
