UPDATE 12.30PM: BUNDABERG Police say they are working to identify the body of a man found on the Bundaberg Riverwalk early this morning.

Police have cordoned off a large area and officers are standing guard at the crime scene.

"We are still working to confirm the identity of the deceased person so I can't release any further information at this stage," a police spokesman said.

"It's still a crime scene at this stage."

EARLIER: BUNDABERG Police are investigating after a body was found on the Riverwalk at Quay St this morning.

A police spokesman confirmed they were investigating a suspicious death but could not release further information at this stage.

The body was found behind the Bundaberg Bowls Club.

A crime scene has been set up and a forensic investigation unit is at the scene.
