Officer punched during brawl

A POLICE officer was punched in the mouth while arresting three people involved in a brawl at a Hervey Bay supermarket yesterday.

About 3.15pm police were called to the Pialba Woolworths in Torquay Road after receiving complaints about a group of eight to 10 people having an argument in the store.

They then received calls from workers at a nearby cafe who saw three of the people involved chasing each other through the complex and towards the skate park.

Police later found the three people in question in a carpark off Main Street.

Two adults - a man and a woman - and one male juvenile have been charged with a range of offences.

At the time of going to press police were still investigating whether more charges would be laid.

The injured male officer was treated at Hervey Bay Hospital and later released.
