Police search for clues in house fire
INVESTIGATIONS into a suspicious fire that almost claimed a heritage-style Queenslander in Maryborough on Monday night will continue today.
Police say the fire at the unoccupied house on Woodstock Street started at 8.52pm.
The flames quickly spread to the upstairs floorboards but, fortunately, firefighters arrived before the blaze could get out of control.
“Neighbours were alerted by the smoke alarms,” Sergeant Pat Fleming said.
Police yesterday had no suspects but were calling on the public to come forward with any information.
The cause of the fire was yet to be determined.
