Police warn lock it or lose it as cars broken into on Coast

POLICE are urging Hervey Bay residents to lock their cars after a number of items were stolen from parked cars in the region.

In the past seven days thieves have targeted cars on Elizabeth St, Urangan, Charlton Esp, Torquay and Scarness, Cypress St, Torquay and Sandpiper St, River Heads.

A Hervey Bay Police spokeswoman said urged people to ensure their cars were locked and valuables were kept in a secure area out of sight.

"Police are reminding owners of vehicles that thieves will target items such as laptops, mobile phones, cameras and wallets via unlocked doors and windows," she said.
