Power face must-win match at Maroochydore
THE stakes could not be higher for Bay Power's QFA Wide Bay Sunshine Coast game on Saturday.
Beat Maroochydore, and the Urangan club will be entrenched in the top three.
Lose, and the Power will slip to fourth, and face the prospect of missing the finals altogether.
The Power will embark on the competition's biggest road trip without captain Josh Wheeler and regular starters Glenn Krohn, Ben Driscoll and Damien McGreevy.
Bay coach Michael Gay said it was "not all doom and gloom”, but admitted the fixture was a must-win.
"I'm expecting a fairly solid game,” he said. "We're expecting a stronger side than what they brought up earlier this year.”
The Power won the second-round Keith Dunne Oval clash 50-30, but recent form would suggest the Roos are running red-hot.
The Sunshine Coast club has won its past three games, kicking 45 goals in the process.
But the Power, which will be led by Matt Saunders for the first time, will be ready.
"Matty's certainly earned his place,” Gay said.
"He has a physical presence and is very good at the back.
"We'll have to play a good game and we've got a reasonably solid squad (to do it with).”
First bounce is at 1pm.
