Birds nest causes outage to 3200 properties on Coast

UPDATE: A BIRDS nest at the top of a pole near the Craignish Country Club was the initial cause of an outage that cut power to about 3200 properties on the Fraser Coast.

Ergon Energy has confirmed power was restored to most homes by about 10.30pm on Thursday.

The remaining 500 properties had power by about 12.45am Friday after crews had removed the nest and repaired a switch.

THURSDAY: Power has been cut to more than 3000 residents after a reported pole fire. 

Ergon Energy reported the outage started about 8.24pm, and has no estimate as to when the outage will be rectified. 

Locations affected include parts of Eli Waters, Dundowran, Nikenbah, Pialba, Craignish, Burrum Heads and Urraween.
