Prime mover set on fire in suspected arson attack

FIRIES and police were called at midnight on Saturday after a Sterling prime mover truck was set on fire on Islander Rd.

Hervey Bay police senior constable Tony Watherston said fire crew from the Torquay Fire Station managed to put the fire out and the incident is now classified as a suspected arson attack.

"Police are treating it as suspicious and are conducting further investigation on the matter," he said.

Police believe the vehicle was parked overnight but they are unsure how the truck caught fire.

"Witnesses who saw the truck on fire called us but provided no other information," Cnst Watherston said.

He urged anyone with any further information to phone the Hervey Bay Police Station on 4128 5333.
