Protech storm past Hurricanes

BREAKING: Hervey Bay has gone down to Toowoomba's Protech in its opening game of round two of the Regional Basketball League.

The Hurricanes put themselves in the hunt after reeling back a double-digit deficit early in the final term to be within six points with five minutes remaining.

But that's where their charge would end as Protech ran out 43-31 winners at Hervey Bay PCYC.

Using aggressive defence and slick ball movement, Protech, who were led well by Jesse Pyke (12 points) and Mike McDaniels (11), established a 21-14 lead at half-time.

Hurricanes' Trevor Sauvageot had the hot hand early scoring all his team's points in the opening term and finished the game with seven points.
