Health Minister meets protesters after M'boro meeting
UPDATE: Health Minister Lawrence Springborg met protesters after a gathering at the Maryborough Senior Citizens Centre on Friday.
Queensland Nurses Union members called for permanent contracts or specialists at the Hervey Bay ICU.
Wide Bay Hospital and Health board chairman Dominic Devine told union members and attendees at a public meeting the ICU would continue to have intensivists on staff, but could not say how many.
He said a report was being prepared on a future model of care for the ICU.
EARLIER: About 10 people protesting changes to Hervey Bay Hospital's ICU shouted out to Health Minister Minister Lawrence Springborg to come and talk to them when he arrived at the Maryborough Senior Citizen's Centre on Friday morning.
He told the chanting protesters he would talk to them after the meeting where about 100 people gathered to hear from Mr Springborg, senior staff at Maryborough Hospital and MP Anne Maddern about the future of the hospital.
Mr Springborg told the crowd the Maryborough Hospital was a key part of future health care for Wide Bay.
