MARYBOROUGH'S PubFest is set to go ahead for its May 1 date - all that is left is for revellers to grab their gory, red threads and a ticket for the day.

Westside Tavern manager Judy Rudolph, who is helping to organise the annual event, said advertising would begin in the coming weeks.

In January, the Chronicle reported the change in date to May 1 of the Labour Day long weekend.

The event was brought forward following a move of the Queen's Birthday from June to October this year.

While public liability insurance had not been secured by the group of publicans organising the event at that time, it now has been.

This year's theme is horror and the colour is red.
