Qld Sidecar Titles cancelled at Maryborough Speedway

MOTORCYCLING Queensland officials have made the decision to cancel tonight's Queensland Sidecar Title meet at Maryborough Speedway.

The event, headlined by former world champion Darrin Treloar and a cast of sidecar and solos stars, was cancelled about 4pm due to rider safety.

Motorcycling Queensland referee Kevin Apps said rider safety was paramount in the decision.

"We turned up with no rain but as soon as we got underway it started to come," Apps said.

"(The meet was cancelled due to) the track condition after the rain."

It is not all bad news, as time trials were successfully completed before cancellation.

"There is now a race meeting - we've got 16 riders plus one reserve," Apps said.

Apps said a new date for the Qld Sidecar Title would be set, suggesting it could be held in February or March, 2018.
