QR taken to task on online bookings for Hervey Bay

TOURISM portfolio councillor Stuart Taylor has arranged a meeting with Queensland Rail to discuss a problem of travellers being unable to book tickets online to Hervey Bay.

Due to the limited number of bus services QR provides from the station in Maryborough West, potential visitors from north Queensland, including tourism hot spots such as Airlie Beach or Cairns, are currently unable to book tickets online to Hervey Bay.

Cr Taylor said he and Deputy Mayor George Seymour would meet QR representatives in Brisbane on June 13.

"I want to make sure they understand the significant impact this could have on tourism and on our community," he said.

Cr Taylor said he had spoken with Tourism Fraser Coast about the issue as well.
