Queensland students won't participate in online Naplan
QUEENSLAND school students will not participate in online NAPLAN testing this year with Education Minister Kate Jones to formally withdraw from this year's rollout.
Ms Jones told The Courier-Mail she would inform a ministerial council in Hobart today that Queensland's schools would not take part in a wider trial of online testing due to start in May.
Ms Jones has been leading a revolt against the move, insisting she did not believe it was ready, with her department finding flaws when scrutinising the system.
"I have always said that I could not commit Queensland students to participate in the online NAPLAN tests if they were not ready," she said.
"I simply cannot commit to a system that might disadvantage our students. We need to be 100 per cent certain that the online tests are good to go.
