Queensland tipped for early poll

THE next sitting of Queensland Parliament will be crucial to determining when the state election will be held, with another bad week for Labor likely to set off an early poll.

The Government suffered a horror week when one of its own backbenchers, Member for Bundamba Jo-Ann Miller, compared it to the corrupt Bjelke-Petersen era for turning a blind eye to allegedly corrupt former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale.

And Corrective Services Minister Mark Ryan survived a no-confidence motion by just one vote, with former Labor members turned Independents Rob Pyne and Billy Gordon voting against the Government.

Another bad week when Parliament sits early next month could be the catalyst for Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to call an election earlier than predicted.
