Quill answers SOS call
HERVEY Bay skipper Mitch Yarrow made the most important call during his reign as his captain on Wednesday.
It was an SOS call to Tomas Quill.
With his team's season on the line, Yarrow has lured the 20-year-old back to the fold to solve the injury-ravaged Seagulls' five-eighth problem after Tyrone Hopgood was ruled out with an ankle injury earlier this week.
Quill has missed most of the Bundaberg Rugby League season, yet has played enough games to qualify for tonight's preliminary final against Easts Magpies at Salter Oval.
Quill rejoined his Seagulls teammates at training on Thursday night and even though he hasn't trained in weeks, he didn't miss a beat.
"He got the ball in his hands and trained very well," Yarrow said.
"He slotted in like he had been there all year.
"Everyone is excited about him being back and knows what he can do."
In a further boost, hard-running front-rower Brett Bunker has been declared a certain starter for the encounter, which will decide who will play Brothers in the grand final.
Yarrow said his experience would be vital against the Magpies, who were valiant in their 24-18 defeat to the Seagulls in the opening week of the finals.
"He always gives us a lot, especially that go forward when others are slacking off," he said.
"Everyone looks at him for a bit of guidance and experience."
