EARLIER: The Fraser Coast may finally get relief from its severe lack of rain this week, with more than 150mm forecast to fall during showers and thunderstorms until Friday.

Forecast rainfall maps released by the Bureau of Meteorology predict 10mm of rain to fall on Tuesday.

The maps also forecast 25mm-50mm of rain on Wednesday.

Thursday's predicted rainfalls could be enough to relax fire restrictions in the area, with anywhere from 50mm-150mm forecast.

BoM's Chance of Rainfall prediction maps show a 75% or more chance of at least 5mm of rain each day this week.

The Fraser Coast was drought-declared earlier this month.
