Stage Rats help keep doctors flying with $2000 donation

FRASER Coast theatre group Stage Rats is proud to have donated $2000 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service from their most recent show One of These Knights.

Stage Rats president Helena Muratori said the contribution was made possible by the support of audiences in Hervey Bay and Woodgate.

"The more people who attend our performances, the more money we are able to give to charity," she said.

Stage Rats sound technician Wayne Jones knows the value of RFDS services after being flown from Hervey Bay to Brisbane for lifesaving heart surgery three years ago.

"They saved my life. I didn't realise the huge part they played in local health concerns and always thought of them as a service for isolated townships but it is not so," he said.

The donation included $100 from the Woodgate Club and was also supported by the Hervey Bay Boat Club providing the Marloo room.

Carolyn Saffron, treasurer for the RFDS Bundaberg, Wide Bay, Burnett Auxiliary and her husband Bob made the journey to Hervey Bay to meet with Stage Rats.

"These donations are a vital contribution to 'Keep the Doctor flying'," Ms Saffron said.
