Ready to celebrate Australia Day

LOCAL AUSSIE heroes will be honoured later this month at the council’s Australia Day awards ceremonies across the Fraser Coast.

As in previous years, awards will be handed out in each of the four former local government areas – Tiaro, Woocoo, Maryborough and Hervey Bay.

With just a few weeks before nominations close it’s time to put forward worthy citizens and community events for the recognition they deserve.

Nominations are being taken in seven categories: community event, junior citizen, senior citizen, junior cultural award, senior cultural award, junior sportsperson and senior sportsperson.

Nomination forms are at Fraser Coast Regional Council offices and libraries. Forms are available on the council’s website.

Winners will be presented their awards on Australia Day, January 26, at the council’s awards ceremonies.

Nominees must live in the Fraser Coast Regional Council area to be eligible.
