Rebels bikie makes threats to police officer and family

A REBELS bikie who threatened to go to the home of a Howard police officer and harm him, his family and their pet dog, will be eligible for parole in six months.

Derek John Sharpley was already banned from driving when he was seen behind the wheel of a car in Howard late last year.

When police went to his home at Granville that evening, Sharpley was recorded warning the arresting officer that he knew "every Rebel from here to NSW" and that when he got out of jail ""your f***ing house is the first place I am going to".

He went on the say "I know where you live... I'm telling you that your f***ing puppy pooch isn't going to be too well...you're f***ked hey... say goodbye ...you wait and see what happens to you... you know I'm tougher hey...it's only a matter of time... you'll be tap dancing soon bud".

Documents before the Maryborough Magistrates Court state that when questioned at the station Sharpley allegedly claimed he had been "misinterpreted" and had "not tried to intimidate" the arresting officer but that the officer feared Sharpley would carry out his threats.

Sharpley, who has an extensive criminal history in his home town of Toowoomba, pleaded guilty to making threats, disqualified driving, possession of dangerous drugs, failing to stop a motor vehicle and obstructing police.

He was sentenced to 12 months jail with parole eligibility set for June 6.
