Grandparents' work recognised
DEDICATED grandparents across the region will be celebrated next week at the launch of the Grandparents United group.
The group was created by the Community Connect and Community Solutions to draw attention to the fantastic work many grandparents do in the region.
Fraser Coast grandparents and grandchildren are invited to attend barefoot bowls session and sausage sizzle on October 5, as part of the launch to find out more about the support group.
Grandparents United worker Kerry Long said the organisation was created to give people more support on the Fraser Coast.
"There are 20 families involved in this organisation at the moment," Ms Long said.
"But there are also a lot of families in the Fraser Coast that don't know about the group."
Ms Long said the group was important to the region as it recognised the work many people were doing in raising their grandchildren, and the family values they added to children's lives.
Fraser Coast grandparents who are interested in joining the support group can attend the Grandparents United launch at the Pialba Bowls Club on October 5 from 10.30am.
Phone Family Connect on 4194 3050 for more information or to register.
Entry to the barefoot bowls and sausage sizzle is $5 per person.
