Logies 2017: Stars are dazzling as the night begins
IT'S the biggest night of the year in Australian TV and stars have spent weeks -- if not months -- getting red carpet ready for the 59th TV Week Logie Awards.
The annual TV awards are set to take place tonight at the Crown Entertainment Complex, with a host of familiar faces returning, along with some worthy first-time nominees, to see who will take home a coveted gold or silver gong.
Presenters on the night will include 800 Words star Erik Thomson, singers Dannii Minogue and Tina Arena, and radio hosts Hamish Blake and Andy Lee.
Morning television's Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and the team from Nine's Today Show are working on the red carpet, with Stefanovic already promising to stay sober because "my body is a temple".
The news presenter who famously told a colleague to put on a jacket to avoid a trio of white tops on television has shrugged off her viral fame and worn white, yes white. Others did too. No word yet if they'll be able to find jackets.
The night will kick off on the red carpet with Rebecca Gibney, Rachel Griffiths, Shane Jacobson, Claudia Karvan, Carrie Bickmore, Delta Goodrem and Asher Keddie just some of the names set to appear.
With designers lining up to dress Australia's biggest names, there's bound to be some glamorous makeovers, with many celebs taking to Instagram to give a sneak-peek into what they'll be wearing on the night.
But as any seasoned Logies veteran will know, there's bound to be some disasters as well -- with fashion faux pas often remembered long after the ceremony.
Already many of them have started posting photos and selfies of their Logies preparations.
Patti wears heart on her... back?
Bert Newton couldn't make this year's awards as he's recovering from pnuemonia so wife Patti decided she'd take him with her.
It's not all about the women, Aussie icons Dr Harry and Molly Meldrum made an impression with their ever-present headwear in tact.
Dress or carpet?
Gorgi Coghlan brought a lot of skirt to the red carpet. Some may say too much? It gave the impression she was drowning in black quicksand.
As Hamish and Andy said about Coghlan's dress: "The red carpet is under that but no-one's seen it for half an hour."
Bec Judd's racy gown
Rebecca Judd has posted a photo her herself in her J'Aton couture gown.
Sylvia's pretty in dusty pink
Jeffreys has chosen to wear a gown by Rebecca Vallance, the same designer who made her wedding dress that she wore when she tied the knot with Peter Stefanovic. She'll be going solo as her new husband Peter Stefanovic will not be at the event as he's on assignment with 60 Minutes.
Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey
While for most the pampering is just beginning, this year's Eurovision announcers, Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey are ahead of the game, perhaps using the Logies as a rehearsal for their Ukraine adventures in two weeks time.
