Relationship not his only problem

A 38-YEAR-OLD man decided to drive while more than four times the legal alcohol limit because he was having “relationship problems”, a court has heard.

Adrian Mark Pilkington blew 0.217% when he was picked up for a random breath test in Hervey Bay last year.

The Hervey Bay Magistrates Court was told Pilkington was on his way to a park “to sleep it off” after his partner would not let him inside their house.

He only made it 500 metres down the road before he was picked up.

Police prosecutor Kath Stagoll said Pilkington was “restless and agitated” when taken to the station to be interviewed and tried to leave the station.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell told Pilkington his reading was “far too high”.

“There was a very serious chance you could have injured or killed someone,” he said.

Pilkington was fined $1750 and disqualified for 12 months.
