Relish food workshop

IN AN attempt to bring back the age-old art of natural food preserving, Hervey Bay environmental group Transition Towns is tomorrow holding a workshop on the differences between preserves, jams, chutneys and relishes.

People interested are encouraged to take along any recipes or samples they may have to share with the group.

Regular members will also be providing tasty samples for all in attendance from tomato sauce to pesto.

The workshop starts at 8.30am at The Cottage at 16 Peters Lane in Pialba.

Meanwhile, Transition Towns is also working with two teachers and students at Hervey Bay's TAFE campus in an effort to grow an organic garden.

The neglected site, which was originally overgrown, has been transformed with a herb garden, ponds and composting areas.
