Australia's best racers on the bay

THE WINDS were up and crews were cheering as the 31st Australian Nacra championships got underway off Hervey Bay.

In all more than 60 crews are in town competing for Australian championship titles in five divisions.

It’s the first time since 2000 that the Hervey Bay Sailing Club has had the chance to host the titles.

Three crews are flying the local flag with Paul Neeskens on “Duck, Duck Goose”, his wife Claire on “Ruby”, while Joe Cassell will be keen to impress on “Hold Fast”.

Racing continues today at 10am and 1.30pm.

The titles will run throughout the week.
