RIHANNA has spoken frankly about her relationship with Chris Brown publicly confirming for the first time that she and the rapper are back together.

The 777 singer said she could "take the backlash" from the public after taking back Brown who was convicted of assaulting her ahead of the Grammy Awards in 2009.

Speaking of their reunion four years after the attack which left her bruised and battered and for which Brown was sentenced to community service, remaining on probation, she said: "I decided it was more important for me to be happy."

In an interview for the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, Rihanna continued: "I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that. Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake.

"After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."

Speaking of the assault Rihanna said: "It's different now. We don't have those types of arguments anymore.

"We talk about shit. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that."

She claims to be ready to walk out on him again if he displays any violent behaviour towards her.

"He doesn't have the luxury of f***ing up again," she said.

"That's just not an option. I can't say that nothing else will ever go wrong.

"But I'm pretty solid in the knowing that he's disgusted by that. And I wouldn't have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility."

The reports of the couple's reconciliation come just days after Brown was investigated by police over an alleged assault in a West Hollywood car park.

Officers at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said they responded to a report of six men fighting on Sunday outside Westlake Recording Studio. They found the scene empty but took witness reports of a brief fight.

"The altercation allegedly led to Chris Brown punching the victim," according to a statement released by police.

Celebrity website TMZ reported that the fight also involved Grammy Award-nominee Frank Ocean who  took to Twitter on Monday saying he "got jumped by Chris [Brown] and a couple guys. Lol".
