River Heads resident starts petition against development

RIVER Heads resident Richard Wilson has organised a petition in his local area to make people aware of a potential expansion of the proposed Turtle Cove development.

Turtle Cove has been approved as a resort complex on the site for many years.

The plans changed to a retirement village this year.

Mr Wilson said he was concerned that the size of the resort might expand.

"We're not opposed to the resort itself but we are concerned (about) the size of it," he said.

"I've got in excess of 300 signatures that are against the increasing the size of the redevelopment of the current site.

"They (residents) bought here for peace and quiet and with full knowledge that a resort complex much smaller than the new one proposed could be built."

Mr Wilson said he was worried the development may impact on current residents' lifestyle.

"When we moved into the area we paid a considerable sum to be fairly close to the (proposed) golf course but also wanted a quiet place to live," he said.
