FOOTAGE has emerged of an enraged 4WD driver almost ramming a P-plater off a highway in yet another shocking road rage incident being investigated by NSW police.

Police have confirmed they're investigating the incident captured on a vehicle's dashcam on Saturday afternoon on Maitland Road in Newscastle.

In the footage, the driver of a white Landcruiser becomes impatient with the P-plater's apparent hogging of the right lane, then gets dangerously close to the other 4WD before moving to the left lane to catch up with the vehicle.

The Landcruiser is then seen alongside the other vehicle with its window open, the driver seemingly having words with the other motorist before swerving into the P-Plater with both 4WDs almost veering off the road.

The Landcruiser then speeds off in the left lane, leaving the shocked P-Plater to pull his vehicle off the road.

The incident is the latest in a spate of sickening road rage incidents on NSW roads.

Last month, a group of men were captured in a violent peak hour road rage brawl in Merrylands while in another incident, Newcastle mother Bianca Lee Sams, 22, was punched in the mouth during a heated confrontation on the NSW Central Coast.

She was later charged in connection with the incident, as was the other 41-year-old driver involved in the same incident.
