Road repairs continuing on Bideford St in Torquay

A SECTION of Bideford St from Colyton to Exeter Sts in Torquay is closed this week as road repairs continue.

A Fraser Coast Regional Council spokesman said the project would rebuild a 700m section of Bideford St from Vicky Parade to Exeter St.

He said the project included reconstructing the centre section of the road, installing sections of kerb and channel near the sportsground and arts and craft village, and drainage improvements.

The spokesman said sections of the road were being opened and closed as the project moved down Bideford St.

He said detours were signposted but motorists were urged to find alternative routes and allow extra time for their journey to take into account possible stoppages.

The project, which began three weeks ago, was scheduled to be completed in 10 weeks, weather permitting.
