Roadworks promise improved flow

A FLURRY of minor roadworks will be completed to improve traffic flow around Hervey Bay ahead of the multi-million dollar reconstruction of Hervey Bay’s Main Street.

The minor road works that will be completed include improvement works at the intersection of Madsen Road, Urraween Road and Nissen Street in order to minimise congestion and allow more space for turning.

Denmans Camp Road will be widened at the Boundary Road intersection to make it easier for vehicles to pass those turning.

The reconstruction of the 1.7km stretch of road will be undertaken by VDM Bellero Construction and workers are now onsite shifting electrical, water and telecommunication services in preparation for the start of the roadworks.

The reconstruction of Main Street will be undertaken in two stages. The first stage will focus on the Main Street and Urraween Road intersection.

Stage two, which includes the 1.3km from Urraween Road to McLiver Street, is expected to start in February next year.
