Rose Tattoo drummer arrested for alleged gun ring operation

A TOP Sydney underworld figure and the drummer of Aussie rock band Rose Tattoo were arrested on Tuesday in relation to an illegal gun ring operating in the city's western suburbs.

The high-profile arrest of Sam Ibrahim, the brother of Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim; drummer Paul DeMarco; and Ibrahim's sister Maha were reported by Fairfax on Tuesday.

A series of early morning raids on six properties across the city on Tuesday resulted in the three arrests, with police expecting more to come as investigations continue.

The raids were the result of the Penrith local area command's Strike Force Bootle investigation, established in October last year to examine illegal firearm sales activity in the city's west.

Throughout the investigation, police have to date obtained 13 firearms and "various calibres of ammunition" a police statement said.

The six search warrants were executed about 6am on Tuesday at Windsor, Greystanes, Londonderry, Castlereagh, St Marys and Warilla.

A police statement said officers found five firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs and steroids during the raids.

All three were taken to police stations on Tuesday, with investigations to continue.
