Rotary Hospital House set to open

THE WALLS are freshly painted, the furniture has been moved in and the welcome mat is set to be rolled out for the long awaited Hervey Bay Rotary Hospital House.

For the past 12 years members of the Rotary Clubs of Hervey Bay have worked tirelessly to raise much needed funds.

While there were many times during that period when volunteers came up against red tape, the hospital house’s committee chairman Neil Canning said he was proud his team never gave up.

During construction, the Rotary Hospital House received finishing touches from various businesses and contractors.

Mr Canning said he estimated between $150,000 to $175,000 in supplies and labour had been donated.

Businesses from around the region also made significant cash donations including the Hervey Bay Boat Club, which handed over $50,000 and isn’t done yet.

In order to get the building finished the club had to dip into its last cash reserves and Mr Canning said any support the community could give to get it back on track would be much appreciated.

The official opening will be held on November 30 at 2.30pm.
